Bunheads
by Sophie Flack

I love reading books set in ballet schools and dance companies, and this is a great one!  Bunheads follows Hannah Ward, a young member of the corps de ballet with the Manhattan Ballet.  Her trials and tribulations are extra realistic and fascinating because the author worked as professional ballet dancer for nine years.  We see Hannah rehearsing, trying to balance normal romances with the incredible demands of company life, struggling with weight issues, and suffering through injuries.  It’s fun to see what goes on behind the scenes at a ballet company, and Hannah is an excellent guide.
